1. Learn About the Surrogacy Program at AFGC

  • Familiarize yourself with the surrogacy process at AFGC.
  • Ask detailed questions to gain clarity and address any concerns.

2. Consultation with Specialists

  • Meet with experienced doctors and fertility specialists to review your medical history.
  • Share any previous test results, reports, or scans for thorough evaluation.

3. Initial Evaluation, Eligibility and Program Enrollment

  • Evaluate the case: The Medical Experts will assess the couple’s suitability for surrogacy.
  • Officially register for the surrogacy program at AFGC.
  • Eligibility letter: Provide the couple with an eligibility letter confirming their readiness for the surrogacy process.

4. Legal and Consent Procedures

  • Lawyer reference – Refer the couple to a lawyer to initiate legal proceedings.
  • Agreements and consent forms are prepared and signed by the intended parents and the surrogate.

       Lawyer Processes

  • Medical indication: The lawyer will draft a medical indication document to justify the surrogacy.
  • Surrogate eligibility certificate: Obtain the legal eligibility certificate for the surrogate from the lawyer.
  • Court order of parentage: The lawyer will apply for a court order that determines the legal parentage of the child.
  • Essentiality certificate: Secure an essentiality certificate confirming the need for surrogacy.

5. Surrogate Assessment

  • Initial assessment: Conduct a thorough assessment of the surrogate, including a detailed medical and personal history.
  • Reproductive fitness check: Perform a TVS (Transvaginal Scan) to evaluate the reproductive health of the surrogate and provide a final reproductive fitness certificate.

6. Surrogate Clearance Procedures

  • Blood tests: Conduct necessary blood tests for the surrogate.
  • ECG & Chest X-ray: Ensure that the surrogate undergoes an ECG and chest X-ray to confirm overall health.
  • Medical fitness: Get a medical fitness clearance from a physician.
  • Psychiatric fitness: Ensure the surrogate is evaluated and cleared by a psychiatrist for emotional and mental well-being.

7. Approval to Proceed

  • After obtaining surrogate clearance, essential documents , eligibility letter, and completing all investigations, the process proceeds to the IVF treatment stage.

8. IVF Treatment and Cycle Synchronization

  • Align the menstrual cycles of the genetic mother and surrogate for optimal timing.
  • Begin ovarian stimulation using medications (usually requiring 2–3 weeks, depending on the cycle).

9. Collection and Fertilization of Gametes

  • Collect eggs and sperm from the intended parents.
  • Perform fertilization using IVF or ICSI techniques to create embryos.

10. Embryo Transfer to the Surrogate

  • Transfer the developed embryo into the surrogate’s uterus under medical supervision.

11. Pregnancy Confirmation

  • Verify the pregnancy with a Beta HCG blood test.

12. Pregnancy Monitoring

  • Provide regular care and monitoring for the surrogate to ensure a healthy pregnancy.

13. Delivery and Baby Handover

  • After delivery, the baby is handed over to the intended parents, completing the process.
